Our origin

In the November of 2014, by God’s grace and in the presence of Most Rev. Joshua Mar Ignathios and Fr. Stephen Kulathumkarott, the first Holy Mass in Syro-Malankara rite was conducted in Perth, the most remote city in the world.

There were many hurdles encountered during the Journey. However, we have had immense support from members of the mission, Fr. Prem Kumar, and the management at Divine Mercy College for opening their doors to their chapel for us to conduct Holy Mass.

Despite all the hardships and with God’s grace, Fr. Prem Kumar and our members dedicated their time and energy to make sure the Holy Mass was celebrated once every three months.

The strong bond between families in the mission, supported by monthly prayer meetings, field trips, Catechism, MCYM, and Mathruvedi, strengthened the Perth mission.

At present, the mission is focusing on growing the number of members and praying for a Priest to be appointed in Perth to grow the mission from strength to strength.
